Big bear's ultra
Big Bear's Ultra is a mountain ultramarathon and trail running race in Slovakia, which will be held on September 20.-21., 2025. It offers three courses, the longest of which is also the longest course within the Slovak Ultratrail League 2025 (part of this contest are the BBU 100+ and BBU 60+ courses only).
The BBU 100+ hundred course with parameters of 118 km / +6300 m has its start and finish at Budatín Castle. This 100+ loop will take you around Žilina - more precisely through the hills of the Kysucká vrchovina (Dubeň, Straník), Malá Fatra with Veľký and Malý Kriváň and Suchý in its Krivánská part and with Minčol in its Lúčanská part, as well as the Strážovské vrchy and Súľovské skaly (Žibrid, Kečka).

Approximately half the distance event of the Big Bear's Ultra, starting in Strečno and ending in Budatín (castle), runs from Strečno along the same route as the main hundred-kilometer race. The BBU 60+ route has parameters of 62 km / +3500 m and during the September 20-21 will take you to Malá Fatra and Strážovské vrchy and Súľovské skaly.

BBU 40 is a brand new course with start place in the village Turie. A perfect race for those runners, who prefer shorter trail races, but still want to experience a big running challenge. The course (40 km / 2000 m+) with 3 aid stations and with a 9 hours time limit joins the two longer courses in Turie and continues together with BBU 100+ and BBU 60+ to the finish (Budatín castle).
Both ultra courses of Big Bear's Ultra - BBU 100+ a BBU 60+ - are part of the 11th edition of Slovak Ultratrail League. All courses have been certified by ITRA (BBU 100+ for 5 points, BBU 60+ for 3 points and BBU 40 for 2 points) and are contained in the list of ITRA National League races as well as races with UTMB Index. Big Bear's Ultra is a part of the Europe Trail Cup (BBU 100+ in the category ETC-L, BBU 60+ and BBU 40 in the category ETC-M).
